Will King
Will King is a Minnesota born guitarist, composer, arranger and teacher of classical, flamenco, acoustic and electric guitar. In the late 1960’s he played lead guitar in several local blues /rock bands. In 1971 he moved to L.A. to attend California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) where he studied with classical guitarist Stuart Fox. He also studied flamenco guitar with Vicente Gómez in Hollywood. After one year at CalArts, he moved first to Amsterdam, Holland to study flamenco with Sabana de Vedra and then Malaga, Spain, to continue his study of classical guitar and to seek out his new passion – the flamenco guitar! After a year in Europe he moved to San Francisco, CA where he performed as a soloist and with many Latin artists including Carlos Santana, Joan Baez, Cal Tjader and others. In 1977 he moved to Montevideo, Uruguay, to study classical guitar and composition with maestro Abel Carlevaro winning awards in both performance and composition at the 3er Seminario Internacional de la Guitarra (Montevideo, Uruguay) and Le Carrefour Mondial de la Guitare (Martinique, the Caribbean).
Recordings include 2 CD’s produced for the Target Corp. Lifescapes label: Spanish Café and Christmas Spanish Guitar.
Will is available for solo guitar performance and instruction in guitar, music theory and composition / song writing.
